The electoral college is just another part of the giant scam that is the United States government. It is a totally senseless organization with a task that is meaningless other than to cause scandal.

The dictionary definition of ‘Democracy’ is a system of government in which the power is invested in the people. The population. America seems to have forgotten this amongst all the ‘spreading of democracy’ we are doing. Let’s not forget that having a congress and a senate which makes our decisions for us already makes the US a republic. But then lets add on to that the electoral college. A Body of delegates of whom most people cannot even name one, that is entitled the power to ultimately decide the next president on the United States. This is beginning to sound less and less democratic with every word.

Why does the electoral college even exist? They supposedly count the popular vote, right? Well then why does the popular vote not determine who becomes president? These are questions that could come from any 4th grader on earth, yet the United States government, an organization with seemingly limitless funds, researchers, scientists, law enforcers, judges, etc… can’t come up with a legitimate answer.

Maybe it’s because the real answer is that the electoral college is just another part of their huge scam. How can lobbyists or crooked politicians or scandals get to 100 million or so voters? They can’t. It’s much easier to only have to reach ooh about 538 delegates. And the members of the electoral college have no obligation to vote one way or the other. There is even a term for members of the electoral college who don’t vote for who their constituents voted for, “Faithless electors”. These are just normal, every day people, just like all of us. Susceptible to blackmail, greed and scandal from the rich and elite of the world…Granted the power to pick the next president.

The electoral college is a mockery of what is supposed to be a free, liberty loving, independent nation. It takes the vote away from every American, and puts the millions of votes into the hands of a few crooked delegates. It is a sham and should be abolished as soon as possible.

No, there is no need for the US to ratify the Kyoto Protocol. It is best to do nothing for global warming is a non-problem.

I think that the Kyoto Protocol will soon self-destruct and hopefully be no more after the year 2010. The idea of reducing man-made emissions of greenhouse gases, notably CO2, with the view of preventing global warming and climate change is no longer a credible theory today.

Science has marched on leaving behind the climate change alarmists wallowing in a sea of embarrassment. They still insist that man-made CO2 emissions cause global warming, but now they call it climate change, which they say includes both warming and cooling. They stumble to explain the nonappearance of global warming during the last decade. Even if there was a mild global warming this would be more beneficial to mankind than any cooling effect.

The Kyoto Protocol is an example of bad science producing bad policy which when enacted results in bad outcomes. The US is wise not to commit itself to any targets concerning a reduction of CO2 emissions. Atmospheric CO2 is not a pollutant but a harmless trace gas vital for the growth of all living things.

Why allow your country to be economically devastated by unnecessary climate change policies such as an Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) which has been tried and failed dismally in the EU? An ETS is better called an “Extra Tax System” or an “Emissions Trading Scam”. The Kyoto bureaucrats are all for it so as to continue their lucrative global warming bandwagon.

Both China and India are exempt from gas emission targets for reason they are developing industrially and have a low per capita level of emissions, compared to the US and EU. China is currently the second largest emitter of greenhouse gases but will soon exceed that of the USA. This exemption granted to China, plus the scientific uncertainty of the whole climate change issue and the certain harm to the economy, are some reasons why recent US governments have sensibly not submitted the treaty to Congress for ratification.

Slowly but surely we citizens of many countries are seeing what the Kyoto Protocol really is … a scam of immense proportions promoted by mainly EU politicians and the radical environmental movement. The Greens are promoting Kyoto as a means of moving towards their Utopia of a decarbonized world running on renewable energy which is unachievable fantasy.

The whole idea is best rejected unless you crave for the living standards of the Middle Ages. Kyoto is simply the means for the United Nations and the Greens to establish a totalitarian eco-state of global proportions.

Ends

The states have various welfare programs, which are at least in part funded and regulated by the federal government. Unfortunately, these programs should be solely state run as the Constitution does not grant the federal government the power to redistribute wealth or offer assistance to those in need at the expense of taxpayers.

While most taxpayers have no problem assisting those who truly need, they do not want to work so someone else, someone quite capable, does not have to. They also shouldn’t want the federal government to sidestep the Constitution instead of leaving welfare, a states rights issue, to the several states.

States are not only better prepared to provide for their people than a cold and distant government, but they can also be more easily controlled. The people have a greater hand in their own governance when the state runs various programs.

There are also issues of waste, fraud, abuse, corruption and red tape. Each of these programs becomes a self-perpetuating bureaucracy, always on the look out for more ways and more users to help take advantage of federal funding streams. It’s gotten so bad now that some states advertise to sign people up for their programs. Even people who are not citizens of this country are invited to take part in numerous types of government assistance and services.

Despite the pork, the “administrative costs” that eat up a huge percentage of the budget, and documented abuse, these programs don’t teach people to become self-sufficient. Most important, welfare programs from food stamps and disability to Medicaid and Medicare (and everything in between) are not within constitutional parameters as long as the federal government has a hand in them.

I relate to the first writer. I live in Ohio. My daughter’s father is ordered to pay about $106.00/month in child support, he has 4 other children (3 other mothers). He has recently quit his job to pursue his second bachelor’s degree, receives government housing and other government assistance. My husband and I are barely scraping by on 2 full-time incomes and on top of all of this the child support enforcement agency continues to claim that they are “working” with him. They have only taken him to court once for being so far behind (almost $10,000). Oh, yeah, and he recently took me to court for visitation rights in the county that I live in (different than the child support case county) and was granted full visitation. She is 11 years old, and the judge didn’t want to hear her, my family, or anyone elses side. He has rights! So, yes, the government’s welfare system needs a major overhaul. I don’t even qualify for medical coverage, which he doesn’t have to pay for, he has medical throught the government.

Out of Work but Not Out of Luck

If you have recently lost your job through no fault of your own, or if in these tough economic times, the dream of working again eludes you, do not panic. The federal government offers ways to deal with your financial stress. Unemployment assistance is offered through income support, health care assistance, job search assistance, and training. In addition, the government may help you find a home and help with the grocery bills while you are searching for a new position.

Many unemployed workers do not take advantage of the benefits offered through the Unemployment Compensation (UC) program. Being out of work today does not have the same stigma it had years ago. Do not be afraid to go to your nearest One-Stop Career Center, established by the Workforce Investment Act of 1998. While you are there, you can apply for government assistance programs that will compensate you for your time out of work and will help you with your employment search.

An unemployed worker may apply for compensation benefits to cover a specified number of weeks that you are not employed. To receive these benefits, claimants must have enough recent earnings to meet their state’s earnings requirements. You must be actively seeking work to receive these benefits. The good news is that you can apply for benefits and register for job search assistance at the same place the nearest One-Stop Career Center.

The Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA) covers job training assistance, adult education and literacy (the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act), vocational rehabilitation (the Rehabilitation Act of 1973), and the Employment Service (the Wagner-Peyser Act of 1933). Title I of WIA provides for job training and related services for unemployed and underemployed individuals through three different grant programs for adults, dislocated workers, and youth.

The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 (COBRA), offers those dealing with job loss, temporary relief from rising health care costs. Employers are required to extend benefits through an option to continue coverage for their employees under certain circumstances for the duration of no more than 18 months. The Health Care Tax Credit is offered to certain participants to enable them to receive a refundable tax credit after they have purchased health insurance.

There are various housing assistance programs available depending upon need and circumstances.

Federal government funding to state government is important and needs more active participation of federal administration bodies.

We pay federal tax as well as state tax. So there should be participation of states too.

Government should introduce proper scientific advance alert system to inform the people staying in disaster prone areas; so that people’s life and their belonging can be saved or in other words I would say we can minimize the loss.

About tax, we pay tax and we get the tax return while filing the tax return during year end. Question is how much we get and how much we do not get? Where this money goes? Is this been spent on wars -or- is this been spent on health research -or- spent for charity purpose -or- as we mentioned whether fund is allocated for such disaster relief needs?

Allocation of funds! If there is such allocation of funds, then why it is taking so much time to get the benefits to affected people. We have benefits while doing tax returns. Certain amount is saved if you mention that you come from disaster affected areas.

During natural disaster; YES it is important to have more shares of federal funding since state itself cannot take so many burdens in terms of reconstruction of infrastructure and funds.

Hurricanes Katrina and Rita were two of the most intense hurricanes ever recorded in the America’s history. There were flexible Federal grants to States after Hurricane Katrina. Federal funds to states done under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grants program to help rebuild damaged housing and other infrastructure. There were enormous amount is been spent by Environmental Protection Agency (Federal Agency) to study the environment condition whenever there is such natural disaster occurs.

Federal government actively participated along with associated bodies to rebuild disaster affected areas; Support to rebuilt many areas like Providing mortgage and foreclosure relief and counseling for homeowners, provide housing and move the displaced to longer-term solutions, Restoring Transportation, Shipping, Public Buildings and Re-Opening Ports, Restoring Communication, Energy and Water, Restoring environment and parks.

After hurricane Katrina and Rita, Federal funding was around $16 billion approx. So it is highly important for federal government bodies to play an important role during such situation.

Labor is just a commodity you exchange for money. Since you use that money to meet your needs, then anything that reduces your ability to earn or spend freely, is harmful to any consumer, including laborers. If the results of government actions are shown to increase our costs our reduce the quality we get for our money, how can we argue for their expansion, or even their continued existence? Here’s a list off the top of my head…

Taxation – Implies that the government can spend your money more wisely than you can. But government spending is notoriously inefficient. They sign unfavorable contracts with inefficient producers managed by politically interested parties. Then there’s the bureaucracy that manages it all – don’t forget to count the costs of the tax collectors, auditors, account managers, and other administrators. If it is illegal for your neighbor to take your money by force, why is it legal for them to legislate it away, through government?

Fiat Money – This is paper money that is not backed by anything more solid than faith in the government that prints it. Real money, or hard currency, is gold, silver, or any other commodity that people commonly accept as payment, including paper money that represents deposits of such real commodity. Fiat money removes the requirement for money to be backed up by real deposits. Imagine trading a pure gold coin to the government, in exchange for one with only 90% gold content, and you’ll understand this power. Printing new money by government fiat, rather than increased deposits, is what allows a government to practice inflation of the money supply. Fiat money makes it MUCH easier for a government to inflate the supply of currency by merely printing more, rather than collecting every pure coin, melting and mixing them with a less valuable metal, then issuing a greater number of new, less precious coins. If a government prints too much money, people lose faith in money’s value, and will stop trading for it, or holding it. When this happens, paper money won’t be worth the paper its printed on. At least not for long.

Inflation – In addition to taxation, this is another method for the government to get money, but this time they don’t have to take it from you directly. This is done by merely printing more without depositing more of what used to back it up. When the government spends these new dollars, the first recipients (bureaucrats and government contractors) get to spend them in an as-yet

What is the role of government? This question needs to be answered before any discussion of institutions.

As citizens, we need someone to protect us from crime and from attack by foreign invaders. We need the police and defence for a secure and stable society. There is no question about that.

Whether the government should print money is not clear. In some nations, the printing of money started out from private banks, and it is debatable whether the government should be the sole custodian of the money supply. The power to print money tempts governments to forget their limitations, and leads to politicians wiggling out of self-created budgetary mistakes by printing more money – contributing to out of control inflation. But let us for the moment allow a statutory, independent central bank to enter the business of printing money.

What else? Public goods such as roads should be provided by government, albeit using a diverse mix of toll ways, freeways and public-private partnerships with competitive tendering at each stage of the process. Where feasible, private initiative must be allowed to flourish.

The case for government intervention becomes fuzzier with the success of privatisation and competition in the telephone, energy, air transport, postal, education and health sectors, which were at one time thought to be “natural” monopolies and hence the preserve of government. Though the monopoly argument is not valid, one can allow for some government role in health in terms of reducing the costs to disadvantaged people.

And yes, one must ensure that people pay for the mess they create. In other words, government has some role in regulating pollution and keeping the environment clean. Note that this does not necessarily entail Pigouvian taxes or large scale, expensive action to tackle problems of uncertain magnitude decades away (such as global warming). It means government should promote voluntary codes of practice, negotiation and ensure a responsive legal system where contract and tort law can deal with environmental externalities in the most efficient manner possible. Even if, in some cases, prices do not reflect the “socially optimal” information it is best to begin with a market system as the starting point, and to then change prices to the extent required.

What else? Zoning. Sure. This is critical. Property rights must be enforced. The government (at the local level) should follow standardised zoning practices to ensure the growth of cities is not haphazard and clumsy.

Finally, the government should regulate markets, such as financial markets, to minimise loss to consumers through unfair practices. Government should not, however, regulate to stamp out so-called anti-competitive practices. Complete free trade is the best anti-trust policy.

That’s about it. There is no role for government in the business of charity* (poverty alleviation and subsidisation of small industries) or the business of business. Governments should not own or operate media organisations, hotels, transport companies, clothing companies and so on.

* There is no a priori reason for governmental involvement in welfare. But I think there should be some welfare given to the disabled and unemployable as part of a humane society. This must be treated as a special case, as should all targeted government subsidies to low-income earners. It is open to review once empirical data on the need for government involvement becomes available.

Hidden government Benefits for those of us who are unemployed.

Current statistics show that over 8 million people within the United States are now classified as unemployed, and I am on of them. I earn what money I can from various places by doing freelance tech support as well as freelance writing, so I can support my family as a single mom. Without the free benefits that our government offers, I could not manage put food on the table and a roof over our heads.

Food Stamps are a free government benefit for low-income families helps to put food on my table. This allows me to serve something other then rice and ramen noodles to the three generations within my household. The food stamps come on a card like a credit card, so it is not as embarrassing to use as it once was. With the costs of food items rising, in stores around the nation this is a welcome benefit for million of unemployed people.

WIC is a great free benefit from our government that allows low-income families with children under the age of five, and pregnant woman have vouchers, which enable them to get high nutrition items for their families. My infant grandson requires formula now that his mom is back to work part time and WIC provides enough formula for a month and at $12.00 a can, this is a welcome benefit as a can only lasts on average three days. When my daughter was breastfeeding she too was able to get food like tuna, and cheese, but right now WIC provides milk, cereal, peanut butter, and juice for my two grandchildren.

Medicaid is yet another free benefit, which is provided to millions of unemployed Americans, which help to pay the cost of medical bills. Each year medical bills are rising, and with so many people, unemployed in the United Stated many people are going without much needed medical Medicaid will help to pay for prescriptions, medical supplies, doctor’s visits, as well as hospital stays. This free government benefit provides dental, metal, specialized care as well as general medical care to millions of unemployed people around the nation and their families as well.

Programs as SPOC, which are run by your local public welfare department, also provide training to unemployed workers. This program will give up to 1,000 dollars for a reliable vehicle, car insurance vouchers for six months, and a clothing allowance to get unemployed people back to work in suitable employment. This program is not for people like my self who already hold a college degree but it will help those people who have a high school diploma or GED.

The department of public welfare has many benefits to help low-income families and they do much more then just Medicaid and food stamps. This government department also provides an education, training, childcare vouchers, clothing vouchers, and so much more for unemployed people who are trying to locate work. This department will give anyone all the necessary tools to help them find the employment that will enable them to support their families.

There are many benefits available beyond your local unemployment office to help anyone who is unemployed. Your local unemployment office is great for finding you a job, but for those of us who require more then a job, the free government benefits mentioned within this article are perfect for anyone who is unemployed.

I seem to remember reading something, that when the government try to run every thing, that is when the government will fail, Remembering this, I would say that I would agree, that the US government should pay, but not just Drugs, all medical should be free, if surveys are truce we have all ready paid for these doctors to become doctors, and we have already paid for these new drugs Thur grants, and the money that we give them, and they still want more, funny,: to think about it, we are problem paying at lest 3 times the valve for these units, the government, this is a laugh, we give them our money in taxes and they decide, by having these Little guys buying them dinner, what laws, and what bills they should pass, and you are at a old table, Its not who should pay, we have moral decision here, is it right because you have more money then me, to get better treatment, or should I say treatment, where as if I am broke, I get nothing, I think I pay enough, to run this government, I think it is time that the government do its job, as they are here to serve the people, I fine this real funny, and I fine this disturbing that our government thinks more for people that do not live here, then us. The one’s that pay the bills.

I also see that the governments is in this chase, it says one thing, and out the other mouth, it says another, lets just talk about who should not get drugs for there health, got any one in mine that should not receive there prescription’s, that a doctor has wrote, How about you, ? I see that if this is about you, it would change, I can almost here what you are saying, look I pay for insurance, to get my proscription’s, why should some one else get it for free,? well maybe just maybe they don;t have a job., maybe they do not make enough money, why should medical of any sort, be denied because you have no money,? give me a good answer and maybe I would back down but I am sure there is none
