Smith: Bill would end UPMC & Highmark dispute

Pa. state Rep. Matt Smith is supporting a bill that could end the UPMC and Highmark dispute and ensure access to specialty hospitals if the organizations cannot reach a deal. As not-for-profit and tax-exempt institutions receiving millions in government grants, UPMC and Highmark have a responsibility to provide healthcare at a reasonable cost to the public. Smith says we need a more transparent and competitive healthcare marketplace.
